and legends of China. Legend has it that Jing Wei was the youngest daughter of the Yandi Shennong clan. Her name was a girl. One day, the girl visited the East China Sea and drowned in water. After her death, the girl turned into a sacred bird with a flower head, white beak, and red claws. Every day, she climbs stones and plants from the mountain, throws into the East China Sea, and then screams “Jingwei, Jingwei,” as if calling out to herself.
