The JS 9 (also known as the CS/LS2) is a commercial export version of the QCW-05, a suppressed submachine gun developed by the Jianshe Industries Corporation of C********, China. The '9' in the weapon's name indicates that the weapon is designed for 9mm ammunition.

Following the unveiling of the QCW-05 submachine gun at the 2005 International Police Equipment Expo in Beijing, Jianshe Industries Corporation (a company under the China South Industries Group Corporation state-owned conglomerate) began development of a version of the bullpup submachine gun designed for export. This export variant would be presented the following year at the 2006 MILIPOL expo.
