"Xam'd: Lost Memories" is an anime produced in 2008.

The main character, "Xam'd," is described as a parasitic organic being from an official background perspective. However, the actual story is a mixture of mecha, retro punk, Evangelion, and urban campus themes. It inevitably makes me think of the "tribute" to the Strong Armor series serialized in 1991 and animated in 2005, but it seems not very successful.
